Chemistry Investigatory Report Contest
Rules and Regulations
I. QUALIFICATIONS
Students from all high schools nationwide are qualified to join. Only one participant per school is allowed to join for each event. The school should have a different participant for each contest.

II. APPLICATION
Submit duly accomplished forms on or before October 30, 2012 to our website http://kapnayan2012.yolasite.com/ or to the office of the UPLB Chemical Society Office, Institute of Chemistry, Physical Sciences Building, University of the Philippines Los Baños, College, Laguna 4031. Walk-in participants for these contests will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis. Limited slots will be allowed for the walk-in participants.

III. REGISTRATION
Registration will start at 7:00 am on November 12, 2012 at the Physical Sciences lobby. Each team shall pay registration fee of Php 200.00 to cover the expenses of the students’ paraphernalia. Accommodation (i.e. food, housing and other provisions) is NOT included in the registration fee. If the number of participants exceeds five, an additional Php 100.00 will be charged per head.

IV. MECHANICS

Investigatory Report November 14, 2012 8:00am-12:00pm To be announced

1. Only one (1) investigatory report from each participating school will be allowed to join.
2. At most three representative students of the school must be present and should be the proponents of the report.
3. The representative student/s should bring proper identification materials(i.e. school ID and quiz registration form)
4. An abstract of the report must be submitted on/before 12:00pm, October 30, 2012 at kapnayan2012@yahoo.com. The file must be in a PDF file with the following format: Letter-sized (8’x10’), Times New Roman font, 12 font size, 1 inch margins on all sides, and single-spaced.
5. The name (or the abbreviation) of the school must be the filename of the abstract of the report. (e.g. UPLB.pdf).
6. Top fifteen (15) reports will be chosen to present their investigatory reports. The top fifteen participants will be notified through electronic mail on or before November 10, 2012.
7. The top fifteen participants must prepare a 2feet in width and 4 feet by length poster containing an abstract, objectives, significance of the study, materials and methods, results and discussion and summary and conclusion.
8. All posters will be typewritten in English. Tables and figures should be properly labeled.
9. All posters should be in tarpaulin.
10. The poster should be submitted on November 12, 2012 during the registration period. The posters will be posted on a designated area.
11. All posters will be returned during the last day.
12. The participant/s should be present ten minutes before the judging. Otherwise, s/he will be automatically disqualified.
13. During judging, fifteen minutes is allotted for the participant to present his poster. Another five minutes will be allotted
for the question and answer portion. Deductions will be given for those who exceed in the allotted time.
14. The participant must not wear their school uniform during the presentation of poster. Otherwise, s/he will be automatically disqualified.
15. The investigatory report will be judged according to the content, originality, structure, style and delivery of the participants.
16. Criteria for judging will be announced before the contest starts.
17. The top three reports will be chosen. Winners will be awarded with medals and certificates. All participants will be awarded certificates of participation.

V. MISCELLANEOUS
​
A. The awarding ceremony for the contests will be on November 15, 2012 at Baker Hall, UPLB after the Chemical Magic Show.
B. The Quiz Committee reserves the right to make any revision of these rules. Proper notification to concerned parties however shall be made in such case.
